Bulldog Chuno Sauce

7 items left

This chuno sauce (brown sauce) is sweet, but not candy sweet. Rather an I-can-put-this-on-everything-to-enhance-its-flavor sweet! Made from real fruits and vegetables like prunes, carrots, apples, and onions, enjoy this sauce in your curries or drizzle it on your meat, rice, eggs, and more for a nice warming semi-sweet umami flavor.

Common Allergens: Soy.

What is Chuno Sauce?

Chuno sauce can often be used as a marinade or dipping sauce. It combines tonkatsu sauce (used on a Japanese pork cutlet/deep-fried pork cutlet) and Worcestershire sauce. This sauce originated after British Worcestershire was brought to the country. After westernized food became more popular in Japan, the country created its own spicier and thinner version of Japanese Worcestershire sauce. It led the way for other versions of Japanese brown sauce, like chuno, tonkatsu, and yakisoba sauces.

How To Cook With Chuno Sauce

You can use chuno sauce as a dipping sauce for fries, korokke (Japanese croquettes), or okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancakes), almost like you’d use ketchup or barbecue sauce.
